Digital printing in the commercial print market has come a long way in the last twenty years, with toner based technologies enjoying the most success in delivering high quality, on demand print. Despite this success, the majority of commercial print is still produced using traditional offset presses.
This situation, however, looks set to change following the introduction of Fujifilm Europe’s Jet Press 720S, an ultra-high quality, 4 colour, B2 sheet-fed digital inkjet press with a production speed of up to 2700 B2 sheets per hour, and the ability to handle the most complex and demanding variable data work with ease.
This opens the door to a wide variety of new applications that can be produced such as high quality coffee table books, photography portfolios, brochures, variable data direct mail, book covers, calendars and art posters to generate new revenue streams for forward-thinking commercial printers.
The Gill talks with Jet Press product manager Mark Stephenson to find out how and why.
