Konica Minolta and Screen have announced a collaboration in the digital commercial printing sector with the view to achieve seamless hybrid workflows and increase user-friendliness in both offset printing and digital printing.

What this means is a way to streamline workflows to enable more cross functionality between RIPs. For example, a CTP workflow RIP for offset printing won’t fully work with a digital production engine and visa versa.

This open partner strategy will see Konica Minolta and Screen tweaking the tools for JDF data exchange between Screen’s EQUIOS universal workflow systems and Konica Minolta’s Accurio inkjet and toner digital presses to enable seamless print output from EQUIOS that encompasses colour management and finishing.

Looking forward, both companies are expecting EQUIOS to be the RIP solution platform for efficiently combining and controlling both offset and digital presses.
