Ink manufacturer Flint Group has launched its latest UV LED process inks - XCURA EVO, a next generation UV LED ink for the low energy sheetfed market.


UV curing of inks and varnishes for conventional commercial printing is undergoing a major evolutionary change and the emerging low energy UV lamp technology represents the most significant development for many years.  


This is why Flint Group believes its XCURA EVO inks will be attractive to fast turnaround conventional printers who can save energy costs by eliminating infra-red drying and warm air drying for water based coatings, turning around work in a matter of minutes, saving on work-in-progress and improving delivery times.


“EVO” is short for evolutionary,” says Trevor Amps, Global Product Management director for Energy Curing inks.  “More and more sheetfed press manufacturers are heading their technology development with LED and low energy curing, and we see growing numbers of retro-fit conversions from lamp providers and OEMs as well.

The company says XCURA EVO is created out of a new advanced resin technology system, which delivers increased stability and performance consistency. Trials of the new inks showed that customers noted better gloss levels, exceptional colour strength and sharper dots. They also commented on much better stability, particularly as production speeds increased, which offered tangible efficiency benefits.


“We tested EVO on all the main presses and many formats, straight and perfecting, with and without IPA, highest production speeds and quality standards and we drew critical comparisons against our existing products and all of our main competitors,” says Amps.
